A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVES AND THEIR IMPACT ON ORGANISATIONAL AGILITY
Digital transformation (DT) initiatives are fundamentally reshaping how organisations operate, compete, and deliver value. As organisations increasingly face dynamic environments, agility has emerged as a critical capability for sustaining competitive advantage. This systematic review synthesises existing literature on the relationship between digital transformation initiatives and organisational agility. It highlights the mechanisms through which DT initiatives enhance agility, identifies critical success factors, explores barriers, and suggests future research directions. Through a rigorous review process, 72 peer-reviewed articles published between 2010 and 2024 were analysed. Findings indicate that while DT initiatives significantly enhance organisational agility by enabling faster decision-making, flexible resource allocation, and customer-centric innovation, challenges such as technological complexity, cultural resistance, and leadership gaps can impede the transformation journey. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of how organisations can strategically leverage digital transformation to achieve agility.
