IMPACT OF STRATEGIC INITIATIVES ON LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: THE ROLE OF HRM
In an increasingly competitive and dynamic business environment, organizations are placing greater emphasis on developing effective leaders to ensure long-term sustainability and growth. Strategic initiatives-such as leadership training programs, succession planning, mentoring systems, and talent management practices-play a pivotal role in shaping leadership capabilities within organizations. This study examines the impact of strategic initiatives on leadership development, with a particular focus on the role of Human Resource Management (HRM) as a key enabling mechanism. Drawing upon the resource-based view and human capital theory, the research proposes that HRM practices act as a critical link between organizational strategies and leadership outcomes. HRM functions-including recruitment, training and development, performance management, and career planning-facilitate the successful implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at nurturing leadership competencies. The research analyses valuable insights for organizational leaders and HR professionals on designing and implementing strategic initiatives that effectively foster leadership capabilities. It emphasizes the importance of aligning HRM practices with organizational goals to ensure sustainable leadership development in a rapidly evolving business landscape.
