UNCOVERING THE POTENTIAL OF TALBAK COFFEE IN DRT, BULACAN: BASIS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF MARKETING PLAN
Coffee, a local brand from Doña Remedios Trinidad (DRT), Bulacan, faced challenges including limited brand recognition, competition with established brands, and inconsistent product quality. This study gathered quantitative data from 30 coffee farmers, 3 main producers, and 30 baristas to examine Talbak Coffee’s unique flavor profile, sustainable practices, and distribution channels. Findings indicated that most farmers preferred organic, rain-fed farming, manual pest control, and dry hulling methods. Robusta was the dominant variety, with high-altitude terrain and mineral-rich soil enhancing the coffee’s quality. Baristas described Talbak Coffee as primarily bitter, with fruity, nutty, and herbal undertones, a medium body, and a color range from medium to dark brown.
This study proposed a comprehensive marketing plan, emphasizing brand visibility, sustainable practices, and community engagement. Recommended initiatives included improved water management, advanced organic farming, and diverse processing methods to boost quality and appeal. The plan highlighted a focus on Robusta while suggesting the expansion of Arabica and Liberica varieties to attract broader consumer interest and enrich the local coffee landscape.
Marketing efforts were recommended to prioritize social media with short-form videos on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok to engage younger audiences. Visual storytelling would showcase Talbak Coffee’s quality, heritage, and farm-to-cup journey, promoting brand loyalty. This strategy aimed to enhance Talbak Coffee’s market presence, support sustainable development, and serve as a model for local brands navigating similar challenges in the Philippine coffee industry.
