JOB SATISFACTION AND WORKPLACE OUTCOMES AMONG HEALTHCARE WORKERS IN A PRIMARY HOSPITAL IN NORZAGARAY, BULACAN

Introduction: Job satisfaction among healthcare workers plays a critical role in maintaining workforce stability, improving service delivery, and ensuring positive patient outcomes. In many public healthcare institutions, particularly in municipal hospitals with limited resources, healthcare workers face challenges related to compensation, workload, and career advancement. These factors may influence employee retention, job performance, and well-being. This study examined the job satisfaction of healthcare workers in a primary hospital in Norzagaray, Bulacan and explored how work-related profile variables relate to satisfaction and workplace outcomes.

Method: The study employed a descriptive-quantitative research design using grounded in Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory. A total enumeration sampling technique was applied, involving 90 healthcare workers including physicians, nurses, administrative staff, and support personnel. The questionnaire collected data on the respondents’ work-related profile variables; measured job satisfaction dimensions categorized into hygiene factors (co-workers, communication, salary, benefits, supervision) and motivators (nature of work, rewards and recognition, promotion); as well as key workplace outcomes such as employee retention, job performance, and well-being. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient with a significance level of 0.05. Reliability testing produced Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.746 for job satisfaction and 0.824 for workplace outcomes, indicating acceptable internal consistency.

Results: Findings revealed that healthcare workers reported high satisfaction with co-workers (M=3.34) and nature of work (M=3.28), indicating strong interpersonal collaboration and intrinsic motivation. Moderate satisfaction was observed in communication (M=3.22) and supervision (M=3.10). However, relatively lower satisfaction levels were reported for salary (M=2.67), rewards and recognition (M=2.67), and promotion opportunities (M=2.77). Benefits showed mixed responses, with dissatisfaction noted in additional non-mandated benefits. The workforce was predominantly female (77.78%) and largely composed of Job Order employees (67.78%), reflecting the employment structure of municipal hospitals. Statistical analysis indicated significant relationships between job satisfaction and workplace outcomes such as employee retention, job performance, and well-being.

Conclusion: The study concludes that while healthcare workers demonstrate strong intrinsic motivation and collegial workplace relationships, structural employment conditions-particularly compensation, benefits, and promotion opportunities-remain key sources of dissatisfaction. Addressing these factors through administrative strategies and policy interventions may improve workforce stability, employee well-being, and healthcare service delivery in primary hospitals.

DATA PRIVACY AWARENESS AND COMPLIANCE OF STUDENTS IN ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORMS

The rapid expansion of online learning platforms has intensified concerns about the protection of student data, particularly in higher education contexts where personal and academic information is routinely collected, processed, and shared. This study examined the awareness and compliance of students with data privacy policies as communicated through institutional documents, platform guidelines, and consent mechanisms. Guided by a document-based research design, the study analyzed institutional policies, legal frameworks, and scholarly literature to identify prevailing practices, gaps, and strategies related to student data privacy in digital learning environments.

Findings reveal that while privacy statements, consent forms, and platform policies are consistently present, they are often written in legalistic or technical language that limits accessibility and reduces consent to a superficial formality. Compliance with major frameworks such as the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012, GDPR, and FERPA is acknowledged but unevenly operationalized, with many institutions meeting only minimum legal requirements. Governance mechanisms – including training, monitoring, and enforcement – exist but are inconsistently applied, further complicated by the reliance on third-party vendors. Ethical and human factors, particularly students’ digital literacy and behavioral practices, critically shape compliance outcomes but are insufficiently addressed in institutional documents.

The study concludes that current approaches to student data privacy remain largely compliance-driven rather than student-centered. It recommends simplifying privacy communication, integrating structured privacy education, sustaining awareness campaigns, and adopting privacy-enhancing technologies. These strategies can foster a holistic privacy culture that balances regulatory compliance with ethical responsibility, institutional transparency, and student empowerment in digital learning.
